Seeking Peace and Tranquility? Visit Faha Valley!

The United Arab Emirates’ northeastern region’s Faha Valley is a true hidden pearl. The best off-road terrains, remote mountainous areas, and untamed nature make it the ideal destination for a relaxing trip, but also… who knows? Perhaps even a new adventure.

FAHA VALLEY—TRULY OFF THE BEATEN PATH

Faha Valley is located close to the Omani border and if you look at the map of the United Arab Emirates, it is considered to be somewhat off the beaten path. You will not find any highways or busy roads here. The closest shopping mall is miles away. Instead, farmlands, quiet households, and gorgeous small communities that spread along the main road are what make this area unique. Here, it is typical to see locals clothed in traditional attire, living a peaceful life away from hustle and bustle of the city.

It is safe to say that tourists do not frequently visit Faha. And why would they? It does not seem to be much here to attract the typical traveler looking for tourist attractions.

Lush vegetation that has been hidden by the meandering valleys will undoubtedly be found as you go further in. If you decide to stay overnight, camping, the crickets performing their concert joyfully and passing planes are the only sounds you will hear in this area.

DO I NEED A 4X4 TO GET TO FAHA VALLEY?

The road in Faha Valley is a dirt road and the first section after the farms is well paved, making it possible to get there in a sedan car. You will undoubtedly need a car with considerable ground clearance if you decide to go deeper into the mountains as the dirt road very quickly turns into gravel road with various size stones.

The wanderlust drives us further and further into the world but that does not mean that we should give up trips around the UAE. The United Arab Emirates is always a good choice, regardless of whether you want to relax by the sea, chase wild animals in the desert, go to the mountain paths or immerse yourself in the stories hidden in the historical fort walls.

REMEMBER!

  • Do not leave any garbage behind, including food. Even organic waste can take months to biodegrade and meanwhile it will attract animals. It may make them stop eating their natural food and rely on what humans leave behind and make them sick.
  • Have always a bag ready to collect trash left behind by other inconsiderate people – in the end, you are saving nature.
  • Hike or camp over gravel and rocks. In some areas, the vegetation can take years to grow back.
  • Leave natural and historical items where you find them.
  • Minimize cooking over a campfire, use the stove instead – it is less impact on the wilderness.
