Idyllic city of Khorfakkan rests majestically on the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea and represents United Arab Emirates beauty at its finest. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is home to some of the most astonishing and secluded beaches. I decided to discover one of them – hidden beach in Khorfakkan.
DREAM ABOUT DESERTED ISLAND
I have always dreamed about discovering a deserted island. An island that is secluded and completely out of sight. An island where I could be all alone surrounded by nothing else but nature. An island where I could leave everything behind and go into solitude. Although it is almost impossible to find a place like that on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates, it seems I discovered a decent substitute – a tiny hidden beach in Khorfakkan.
ACCESSIBLE ONLY BY THE SEA
Almost every time I happened to visit Luluyah Beach in Khorfakkan (25.383236, 56.359761) the sea was extremely rough and making it impossible to tame the waves.
The mountainous backdrop into the sea at the right end of the beach (the place is commonly known as Black Rock) makes a popular spot amongst snorkelers. You will find a huge diversity of marine life thriving here all year round. When the waters are calm, this place is easily accessible by swimming as it connects with the beach itself. However, in case of bad weather conditions, it is very dangerous – strong waves will easily carry you away and throw you against the rocks.
On one warm afternoon in October, I was extremely lucky to find the sea at its best calmness and tranquility. I inflated my paddle board and set off for an expedition. Shortly after I passed The Black Rock, I navigated towards a barren hidden beach in Khorfakkan (25.376128, 56.357597).
TINY PARADISE – HIDDEN BEACH IN KHORFAKKAN
Although hidden beach in Khorfakkan is quite small in size, you can enjoy a walk on the soft white sands that caress your feet as you step into it, or have a little picnic. Wonderfully clear water and calm waves will lull you into a peaceful daze and tempt you to jump for a swim or snorkeling to admire the diverse marine life and many natural gems of the underworld.
This extraordinary experience at Khorfakkan hidden beach left me in awe. After spending all afternoon alone at my imaginary deserted island and watching mesmerizing sunset I headed back to civilization.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It is probably not the best place to head to Khorfakkan hidden beach on weekend, as the sea traffic is heavy – a lot of boats passing around and on the top of that horrifying noise of people on jet skis playing around. Additionally, there is a lot of trash on the island, so if you can, please, take some of it back with you. When I was leaving the beach I came across a family kayaking towards it, so it is possible you will not be the only visitor.

REMEMBER:
- Do not leave any garbage behind, including food. Even organic waste can take months to biodegrade and meanwhile it will attract animals. It may not only make them stop eating their natural food and rely on what humans leave behind but also it may make them sick. Additionally, have always a bag ready to collect trash left behind by other inconsiderate people – at the end you are saving the nature.
- Hike or camp over gravel and rocks. In some areas the vegetation can take years to grow back.
- Leave natural and historical items where you find them. Don’t move them or bring them home with you.
- Minimize cooking over campfire, use the stove instead – as less impact on the wilderness.
